An Atomicity-Generating Layer for Anonymous Currencies
نویسنده
چکیده
1* Atomicity is a necessary element for reliable transactions (Financial Service Technology Consortium, 1995; Camp, Sirbu and Tygar, 1995; Tygar, 1996). Anonymity is also an issue of great importance not only to designers of commerce systems, (Chaum, 1982; Chaum, 1989; Chaum, Fiat & Naor, 1988; Medvinski, 1993), but also to those concerned with the societal effects of information technologies (Branscomb 1994. Compaine 1985, National Research Council 1996, Neumann 1993, Poole 1983). Yet there has been a tradeoff between these two elements in commerce system design. Reliable systems, which provide highly atomic transactions, offer limited anonymity (Visa, 1995; Sirbu and Tygar, 1995; Mastercard, 1995, Low, Maxemchuk and Paul, 1993) . Anonymous systems (Chaum, 1985; Chaum 1989; Medvinski, 1993) do not offer reliable transactions as shown in Yee, 1994; Camp, 1999; and Tygar, 1996. This work illustrates that any electronic token currency can be made reliable with the addition of this atomicity-generating layer. 1 * This work was begun at Carnegie Mellon University with support from the US Postal Service, and an equipment grant from IBM. Research of Satisfying Atomic and Anonymous Electronic Commerce Protocol
Atomicity and anonymity are two important attributes for electronic commerce, especially in payment systems. Atomicity guarantees justice and coincidence for each participant. However traditional atomicity either bias to SELLER or CUSTOMER. Anonymity is also intractable, unanonymous or anonymity both leads to dissatisfying ending. Therefore, it is important to design a system in which satisfyin...

We study legal and policy issues surrounding crypto currencies, such as Bitcoin, and how those issues interact with technical design options. With an interdisciplinary team, we consider in depth a variety of issues surrounding law, policy, and crypto currencies — such as the physical location where a crypto currency’s value exists for jurisdictional and other purposes, the regulation of anonymo...
متن کاملTrends in crypto-currencies and blockchain technologies: A monetary theory and regulation perspective
The internet era has generated a requirement for low cost, anonymous and rapidly verifiable transactions to be used for online barter, and fast settling money have emerged as a consequence. For the most part, e-money has fulfilled this role, but the last few years have seen two new types of money emerge. Centralised virtual currencies, usually for the purpose of transacting in social and gaming...
متن کاملAccountable Privacy for Decentralized Anonymous Payments
Decentralized ledger-based currencies such as Bitcoin provide a means to construct payment systems without requiring a trusted bank. Removing this trust assumption comes at the significant cost of transaction privacy. A number of academic works have sought to improve the privacy offered by ledger-based currencies using anonymous electronic cash (e-cash) techniques. Unfortunately, this strong de...

We develop the first basic Operational Risk perspective on key risk management issues associated with the development of new forms of electronic currency in the real economy. In particular, we focus on understanding the development of new risks types and the evolution of current risk types as new components of financial institutions arise to cater for an increasing demand for electronic money, ...
